Jason Elwell joined Grace Baptist Church’s leadership team as an elder in 2021, bringing with him the lessons learned under the discipleship of Pastor Dave and Pastor Matt, recalling Pastor Dave’s fervent prayer, “For the sake of the sheep, and the glory of Your Name”, and Pastor Matt’s charge to him, “Every soul is precious.”
Jason grew up in Western New York, in Fillmore to be specific. He is grateful to his parents, Scott and Ruth Elwell, for being Christ-centered, godly parents who from his childhood acquainted Jason and his brothers with the Bible which is indeed able to make one wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. He was homeschooled from first through twelfth grade, then attended Cedarville University. There he received the Bible minor given to all students who attend Cedarville, an outstanding curriculum that is entirely available and completely free online to anyone! He is married to his love, Darcey, and they are blessed with two daughters, Erin (born in 2005) and Natalie (born in 2006). Together, they enjoy their little spot in the hilltops of West Sparta, NY, overlooking the Genesee Valley a few minutes outside of Dansville.
Jason is a physician, having collected a “MD” after his name at the University of Toledo and completing his Pediatric residency at the University of Rochester. He is a board certified Pediatrician serving the children of the Dansville area since 2010. He delights in collecting a recommended reading list, and trying to not fall further behind in it! He loves all things alive and growing and pretends to be an avid gardener and aquarist. He will even admit a rather nerdy fascination with astronomy and spaceflight.
Thanks to Christ, and Christ alone, Jason is at peace with God and is counted among His people. It is his passion to know and serve the Lord ever better, together with his brothers and sisters in Christ, not by his own merit or strength but by God’s own Spirit in the use of God’s gracious gifts of prayer, scripture, and faithful fellowship within Christ’s church. Along with his brothers and sisters at Grace Baptist Church, it is his passion to see the Lord at work, with ever more people seeing and knowing personally the supremacy and beauty of Christ!
