Elder Matthew Gibson is a real gift to our church. He and his family are actively involved in most areas of church life. For example, Matt and his wife Stacie serve as youth leaders and lead in the biblical counseling training in our church. In addition, Matt regularly teaches Adult Sunday School, and leads a small group at his home in Conesus, NY.
Matt and Stacie also head up Grace Biblical Counseling. The Gibsons are ACBC certified biblical counselorsand are currently helping a number of others through the certification process. Both are gifted (and busy!) counselors - skillfully getting to the root of problems so that they can graciously apply the gospel and offer hope to the hurting.
As an elder, Matt's primary responsibility is in the area of church membership. He is passionate about seeing God's people connected and committed to the local church, where they can exercise their God-given gifts for His glory.
Though it might seem as if Matt is a vocational pastor at Grace Baptist Church, the astounding thing is that he does all of these things after working full time as a pipefitter in the Rochester area. Perhaps most importantly, Matt is a faithful husband to his wife of 28 years and loving father to his 4 children: Nathan, Emma, Madalyn, and Noah.
In Matt's spare time he enjoys time with his family camping, vacationing on the Jersey Shore and having people in his home.
